about
On Martin Luther King Day this year, I released this song to serve as a reminder that we still have a long way to go in the fight for freedom and justice. As we move into Black History Month, I believe this is the perfect time to spread this message.
lyrics
Black is black, white is white
And you better not cross the color lines
If you dare they will bite
'cause the honey's real sour on the other side
Mama always told me
Girl, please be smarter than me
Get your Bible and your gun
If you hear them, don't you run
It's time for you to stand up and fight
For a New Age
'cause when Jesus one day comes
He's gon' ask you what you done
And you better not be afraid to say
I stood here to fight
The block is hot, the heat is tight
And you better pack twice to stay alive
If you don't, you may not survive
'cause respect don't come easy, it's no state of mind
Papa was a rolling stone
Mama always left me alone
But the pastor one day said
If you join them, then you're dead
It's time for you to stand up and fight
For a New Age
'cause when Jesus one day comes
He's gon' ask you what you done
And you better not be afraid to say
I stood here to fight
I stood here to fight
'cause when Jesus one day comes
He's gon' ask you what you done
And you better not be afraid to say
I stood here to fight
